The Great Bazaar and some more blocks

Emma Florence LeConte Furman writes in her diary January 18th, 1864: "Well, our great bazaar  opened last night, and such a jam! I was at the State house helping to arrange the tables until four o'clock so I was thoroughly tired" ......."Some beautiful imported wax dolls, not more than twelve inches high, raffled for five hundred dollars, and one very large doll I heard was to raffle for two thousand. Why, as Uncle John says, "one could buy a live negro baby for that! - How can people afford to buy toys at such a time as this! However, I suppose speculators can. A small sized cake at the Tennessee table sold for seventy-five dollars."

I have made some more January blocks this weekend: Telegram (Jan. 25, 1863)
Loveley miniature shoo fly blocks 3 1/2", and four of them makes the whole block.

And Misleading Dispatch (Jan. 27, 1863)
Some of these blocks can take hours to make, and still they aren't perfect... I think that some of them are like small diamonds, so beautiful! The square above measures 3 1/2".
I hoped to make all the January blocks this month, but I think I have to work on Bonnie's mystery the rest of the month. And on Sunday I have a date with a blog friend, a sew together.
Looking forward to see Satu's blocks!

No har eg laga nokre fleire CWD-blokker, frå januar månad. Eg tykkjer eg er flink å fokusere no!

Dear Elin, how nice to visit here and see your gorgeous blocks again! Telegram and Misleading D were my first two blocks. You can imagine how I felt about CWDQ, when I finally finished them - especially MD. I just posted mynro67, which is my last one in this month and plans for February. Will you join me? My goal is TEN blocks! Is it too much? Are we overloaded... Although I found today nice fabrics for the block68 - hardly can't wait to sew it;)
